Why Granite Is The Best Stone For Outdoor Bathtub

Granite is one of the most durable stones. Unlike other stone types, granite does not have a porous surface that inflow water, which is less likely to cause the stone bathroom bathtub to crack and crumble and it won’t get damaged even by harsh winter weather.

Granite is also easy to maintain. The most important is that you should scrub and dry the surface of the bath after every use, mildly cleanser is able to remove the majority of dirt and residue. Easy care could make granite tub stay in primal condition for decades.

Other natural stones like limestone, travertine, marble and sandstone can be used for bathtub as well. However, these stone types are less durable than granite, as they are porousness and softness, making it far easier to stain and damage, so we do not recommend using them for outdoor use.
Some people may choose cast stone because of their similar look to natural stone and lower price tags. However, they end up disappointed because the bathtub deteriorates quickly. Actually paying for a granite bathtub is more economical over time.

How A Stone Bathtub Is Made

Free-standing stone bathtubs are a unique alternative compared to traditional bathtubs and showers. There is nothing better than relaxing in a warm luxurious stone bath. Our bathtubs are carved from a single solid natural stone block of natural stone, the process of creating it is very interesting.
First step is to choose a suitable block to carve the tub from, then cut it down to a dimensional size.

The next step, we will hollow out the center of the tub and the sculptor begins to shape the exterior of the bathtub. They use stone saw and chisels and other hand tools to carve the stone until the shape is defined.

After that, the shape of the tub is beginning to take form. The sculptor checks the whole shape for consistency, and use orbital sanders and grinders to smooth out the tub.

Now the bathtub is nearly finished, the last step is to polish the bathtub to bring out its natural color.
